Candle Care

Taking care of your candle will ensure you get the most out of it and help it to burn cleanly and evenly.

Here are some tips on how to care for your candle:

Trim the wick:

Before lighting your candle and before each and every burn, always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This will help to prevent the flame from becoming too large and will also help the candle to burn more evenly and avoid the 'mushroom' wick.

Burn time:

It is important to burn your candle for long enough to ensure the entire surface of the wax melts and pools right to the edge of the jar before blowing it out. This will help to prevent tunnelling and will help your candle to last longer and avoid any wastage. However, you should not burn a candle for any longer than four hours as the jars can get too hot and unsafe.

Avoid drafts:

Make sure to place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from any drafts. Drafts can cause your candle to burn unevenly and can also be a fire hazard. It also goes without saying that you should never eave a burning candle unattended and keep them away from pets, children and furnishings.

First burn:

When you first light your candle, let it burn for at least two hours to ensure a full melt pool has formed. This will help to prevent tunnelling and will help your candle to burn evenly.

Storage:

It is best practise to store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight until you are ready to put it out in your home and burn it. We also provide you with a seeded dust cover on each candle to pop on your candle in-between burns to stop dust gathering on the top.

Extinguish safely:

Try to use a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle. Blowing out the flame can cause hot wax to splatter, which can be dangerous so always be cautious.

Clean burn:

To ensure a clean burn, make sure to remove any debris, dust or trimmings from the wax before relighting your candle. Stop burning your candle when there is no less than 7mm of wax less in the jar.

By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your candle burns cleanly, evenly, and for longer.

Enjoy the cosy ambiance and delicious fragrance of your candle to the fullest!
